Buying Guide for Choosing a Clarinet

The Clarinet is a woodwind instrument and is featured in a variety of musical styles such as classical, concert bands, Dixieland and Jazz.

In the clarinet family there are different models such as the contra-alto and bass clarinets, but the most common is the Bb (B-flat) clarinet.

This is the instrument usually played by beginner clarinetists performing in marching bands and stage bands.

For the purpose of our Buyers Guide, this is the clarinet we’ll be concentrating on.

Student clarinets are designed for the beginner and meant to provide an excellent start for the first years of playing.

Once a student is established, and is learning the fundamentals of good playing, it is important to provide them an instrument that will continue their musical growth. All of our intermediate level clarinets feature grenadilla wood bodies and excellent keywork.

Designed and constructed with the professional musician in mind, these excellent clarinets find favor among the serious students as well.

Our site has a complete and varied selection of clarinets for any playing level, all backed by our 45/45/100 Guarantee. Call and speak with one of our Product Specialists to help you find the instrument that’s perfect for you.

Buying Guide for Saxophones

The saxophone is a member of the woodwind family and was invented by Adolphe Sax in 1841. It’s probably the most featured solo instrument in pop and jazz and there are many opportunities for beginner saxophonists to perform in concert, jazz and marching bands.

While there are many different instruments in the saxophone family from the soprano to the bass, the alto sax is traditionally the most common instrument for beginners.

It requires less air than a tenor and its smaller key layout makes it more comfortable for younger players hands. In time, with proper study, the technique and skills can easily be transferred to all the members of the sax family as well as clarinet and flute.

Most saxophones are made of yellow brass with a clear lacquer finish. Some instruments are available with bodies made of silver, bronze or gold. These higher-end instruments are more expensive and require special care.

Our site has a complete and varied selection of saxophones for any playing level, all backed by our 45/45/100 Guarantee. Call and speak with one of our Product Specialists to help you find the instrument that’s perfect for you.
